Maxime Poisson, Cabinetmaker: modern pieces, ancestral inspiration

Maxime Poisson, Ébéniste : des pièces modernes, une inspiration ancestrale

When we are young, we spend a lot of time wondering about our future. This was also the case for Maxime Poisson, who at the time was not sure which profession to pursue. His choice finally stops on a training in landscaping. It was by chance during a shutter on the furnishing that he had the big click; that's what he wanted to do with his life!

Chance would have it

For nearly ten years, Maxime worked in various companies specializing in the furniture industry. In addition to working full-time in the field he loves, he accepts part-time contracts in his small workshop at home.

It was in 2011 that he began to design rocking chairs. After making a few, he posts photos on Facebook. The post quickly went viral. People love his creations. This is how his business quickly grew.

Also having a strong ecological conscience, Maxime wishes to reuse the many scraps of wood from the manufacture of his chairs. He then decided to develop new products such as cutting boards, kitchen tables and chairs, as well as knife holders.

Both modern and ancestral

From his workshop in Dunham, he now works there full time and does everything from A to Z. Moreover, he designs all his products himself since he wants to do something different in terms of design.

The type of wood he prefers to work with is unquestionably black walnut. It must be said that he was using it long before it became more popular. Its inspiration comes mainly from the Scandinavian style of the 1950s-1960s, emphasizing its more organic side and its reference to nature.

While his business is growing, Maxime has several other projects in mind. He also wants to produce a series of decorations for the house as well as lamps. Since he only works with wood, he would like to incorporate other materials such as leather and aluminium.
