Before the official launch of the French-subtitled version in Montreal on May 23, I had the chance to watch exclusively the documentary A Farm Larger Than Life .
A Larger-Than-Life Farm follows the adventure of Molly and John Chester, a Los Angeles chef and wildlife filmmaker, who decide to trade city life for 200 acres of farmland and build there. a farm. But not just any farm; a farm based on the traditional method of agriculture, where animals, plants and humans live together in a harmonious and sustainable ecosystem.
Filmed by John Chester himself, as well as a team of trainees over more than eight years, A farm larger than life shows us the perseverance and determination of a couple in the face of the obstacles brought by this new lifestyle.
Like me, I'm sure you'll quickly fall in love with the endearing characters that make up the farm; including Todd the dog and Emma the pig, who certainly steal the show during the 1h40 of the documentary. It is through the heartbreaking ordeals experienced by the couple (predators, harmful insects, forest fires and the many vagaries of life) that the strength of mother nature and the natural rhythm of life are represented.
A Farm Larger Than Life is certainly a documentary highlighting agricultural practices and their impact on biodiversity, but it is also an impressive representation of nature in action.
The images shot will transport you into the agricultural world, as if you were there, and will certainly lead you to question our role and our impact on biodiversity and the balance of nature.
