A visit behind the scenes of a Quebec e-commerce: Simple Labels

I take you with me to the production workshop and offices of an online store in Quebec: Simple Labels, founded by the owners of Imprimerie Ste-Julie . This local company was born from a desire to offer simple, personalized and 100% web-based services for the digital printing of small quantities of quality self-adhesive labels.

Vicky Kenty, manager of Simple Labels offers me a pleasant guided tour of Imprimerie Ste-Julie, where the labels ordered online are produced: here mountains of well-strung rolls, numerous machines in action, pallets filled ready to be shipped and a nice clean factory.

I greet hard-working and very friendly employees. I marvel at the work done by the employees. My curiosity takes over in front of the corridor adorned with executives proudly displaying the (numerous) awards obtained for the company's innovative techniques and certifications. Cheer! I had the pleasure of meeting Caroline, co-owner of the family business, to learn more about their entrepreneurial journey and the little story of Simple Labels.

Meet the experts in self-adhesive labels in Quebec

Two sisters and a family business

Starting a business is quite a project. Taking over a family business is a challenge! This is what the Fournier sisters have been doing for 8 years now with the family business Imprimerie Ste-Julie. Caroline and Marilène continued the entrepreneurial adventure by starting a second company since 2012: Simple Labels.

Expertise and concern for quality

Simple Labels produces stickers using mainly three varieties of paper: a waterproof synthetic paper on permanent glue and two natural fiber papers, one on permanent glue and the other on repositionable glue. Several special paper types may be available upon request. Among other things, the company makes available papers that are resistant to freezing and others that can be affixed to tubes that can be “squeezed” without damaging the label. A plastic film, bringing a matte or glossy finish to the label, is also affixed to protect the sticker and make it waterproof thanks to the lamination. No home printer can match the quality and finish of the labels produced by Simple Labels.

Simple Labels is a 'web to print' division created to cater to consumers, like you and me, who needed locally produced self-adhesive labels at good prices and in small quantities. Being an entrepreneur, self-employed worker and mom, I would put self-adhesive labels on everything: delivery box, product packaging, envelope header, sticker logo, children's names on school supplies, stickers with motivational phrases..., in short, everywhere!
