In the summer, I enjoy exploring towns that I know little about. A beautiful sunny day, music in the car and an iced coffee; it doesn't take much for an adventure to begin!
I intend to go to Thetford Mines very soon and as I am currently planning my stay, I had the idea to share with you some places that caught my attention during my research. Good discovery!
Minero Museum
The Mineralogical and Mining Museum of Thetford Mines (or Minéro) highlights the mining history of the region and exhibits a fine collection of rocks and crystals. Many activities are organized for children, such as crafts and workshops. While in Thetford, also go to the new Center historique de la Mine King KB3 not far from there, which allows you to visit mining buildings and learn more about the tasks performed by the workers.
Next Door Microbrewery
In addition to creating excellent beers, La porte d'à deux offers a bistro-style menu and a catering service. You can find a bit of everything, including burgers, pizzas, pasta and paninis. On weekends, you can even have lunch there until 2 p.m. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant, it's a nice place to enjoy a good pint on a terrace!

Blanc par rouGe offers gourmet products made with maple syrup, such as vinaigrette, onion confit and seasonings. Established since the fall of 2020 in Thetford Mines, the company previously located in La Guadeloupe houses a product showroom for companies looking for ideas for a corporate gift. Unfortunately, there is no shop open to the general public, but the place remains accessible for anyone who wants to pick up their order made online or by phone.

Thetford Summit Park
Known as the Parc éolien des Moulins, the place whose name has recently changed invites mountain bikers and walkers to explore its 16 kilometers of trails. On site, you can also contemplate imposing wind turbines. The Appalachian Mountain Bike Association and the City of Thetford Mines recently announced that the trails will be extended over the next few months.
Flintkote Scuba Diving
Whether you've scuba dive before or not, this site allows everyone to experience swimming in the clear, turquoise water of the Flintkote Quarry. There are plenty of artificial reefs to discover to make the experience even more enjoyable, such as works of art, a sailboat and even an airplane!
