Noemiah, the expression of femininity

It is a chance that we have, as a collaborator of Signé Local, to be able to enter in all intimacy in the universe of the creators from here and to make you discover them. Nothing is more inspiring than talking to local entrepreneurs about their plans, dreams and motivations.

I discovered the Noémiah brand a few years ago through a former classmate. I have closely followed the evolution of the brand since its very beginnings. First fell in love with its jewelry adorned with feathers , my heart melted for the brand from the launch of the first ready-to-wear collection in 2015. The minimalist and modern cuts, as well as the femininity of the collections, have always cracked me up.

During a telephone interview with Noémie Vaillancourt, I also fell under the spell of the brand's founder; a gentle woman whose passion shines through, even on the other end of the line.

EXPRESS YOUR CREATIVITY

Holder of a master's degree in French language literature, Noémie entered the fashion industry without really planning it. As far back as she can remember, she has always enjoyed creating. His grandfather being a painter, he transmitted to him this interest for the "handmade". Passionate about fashion and a big consumer of jewellery, she started by creating her own pieces using mainly feathers. Little by little, she put them on sale and Noémiah was born in 2008.

Continuing on this path, Noémie completed a three-year training in sewing and pattern design at the Faubourg-de-Montréal trade school. Two internships with designers followed, including designer Travis Taddeo . During this internship, Noémie understood that she too could be a designer. She better understood the feminine physiognomy and how she could create on her own. She finally launched her first ready-to-wear collection in the spring of 2015.

EXPRESS YOUR FREEDOM

For each of her collections, Noémiah takes pleasure in collaborating with local artists and illustrators. Together, they create the prints and embroideries that are found on the pieces in the collections. This is one of the aspects of her work that Noémie prefers. The creative possibilities are endless and allow the designer to express herself freely.

Noémiah, these are pieces that go through time like the designer, they are simple and modern pieces that we like to collect. Finding that fashion in its form lacks humour, Noémie likes to add a more whimsical and magical touch to her creations. She is also recognized for her pieces with eye-catching prints and her embroideries in collaboration with artists.

Wishing to keep this freedom of creation that she adores so much, Noémie refuses to confine herself to the “normal” pattern of collection launches. She therefore presents different collections of only a few pieces according to her desires.

2022, A SIGNIFICANT YEAR FOR THE BRAND

“I am privileged to be able to express myself through fashion in such a free way. I keep time to dream: something exciting materializes little by little and lives in me every day. I've mentioned it a few times on my social networks, it's a big project I've been thinking about for the past two years and which will take shape in 2022."
