“It's the story of Madeleine, Maxime and Benoit, these three musketeers who team up on Quebec soil to concoct the dream leggings of our time, from the fiber to the conscience. »
Become aware
Millions of tons of textile materials are thrown away every year. Just think of our wardrobes that keep accumulating pieces over time, without the majority even being worn.
If we go to the top of this large-scale production chain, it forces us to think about the energy necessary for their creation, the natural or synthetic raw material used, the humans behind the labor work, to the transport from point A to points B and C, then to the grafted materials along the process, which are very often toxic.
The textile industry thus carves out a place at the top of the list of industries that take from the planet without really caring about one day giving it back.
Thank you life, we see more and more solutions, big and small, emerging in our societies. So there is this local company called Rose Buddha , which since November 2016 has been offering us an alternative that makes sense.
Answer to a need
Coming from the world of communication and video production, sometimes yoga instructors, sometimes parents, the entrepreneurs wanted to create the “perfect leggings”. For what? Because those found on the market were according to them either too loose or too tight, but above all, for the most part, designed in a rather unethical way elsewhere on the globe.
“There was no question of underpaying the people who would work with us or of offering them terrible working conditions. »
Knitted and sewn in Quebec, the leggings they offer are made of 83% plastic yarn obtained through the recycling of those famous water bottles that increasingly denature our environment. For the remaining proportion, they opted for lycra rather than nylon fiber which uses petrochemical compounds.
With the exclusive system they created after surveying women of all ages and shapes, comfort is the pinnacle! With the presence of an elastic band on the back only, the suit stays in place when bending, without however entering the belly, or even taking your breath away. Joy!
The pretty works that affix to it vary from one collection to another and appear by sublimation. A process which roughly goes as follows: the design is printed on a paper, which is glued to the fabric. These are then pressed warm against each other. The ink evaporates and leaves its original paper to settle slowly on the textile.
“We started very small, with 200 leggings to sell, to see where all this would take us. The day after they went live, they were all sold out! We are happy that people get on board, then to meet a need, with a product that is both ecological and ethical. »
How to rhyme Buddhism and economics
Also advocating the principles taught by the Buddhist religion, these fashionable entrepreneurs have an economic vision defending “happiness as the ultimate goal, not wealth”.
This is a bit why they want their product to remain one generated in joy, respect for others and nature, thus adhering to the principle stipulating that we are all interconnected.
Does it speak to you? Encourage them!
The leggings can be found at various retailers in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia and even France. If it can simplify travel, an online store is hidden on the company's website. Slight detail here, it takes about a hundred dollars to invest for this jewel of tight pants, which you may wear every day as soon as it is adopted, and therefore make it more profitable. The leggings are also on sale on the Signé Local online store.
Rose Buddha also offers camisoles, very warm and soft leggings (pajama style), then bracelets and necklaces of the mala type.
