Do you know the oleo-limestone liniment, this little marvel that basically cleans, nourishes and protects baby's skin?
Until recently, I had never heard of this almost miraculous product. It was while browsing the Signé Local website that I discovered its existence. Joy!
I could have talked for hours with Aurianne Parfait, the founder of BB&Moi , the first company to market liniment in Quebec. Her generosity, her energy, her transparency make her someone anyone would want to go have a coffee with, me included. During our interview, I was able to learn even more about the fabulous benefits of liniment. New client, I will be!
The magic formula
Initially, the liniment consists of a recipe that may seem quite simple, but turns out to be a little more complex in reality. Made from two basic ingredients, olive oil (oleo) and lime water (limestone), the formula can then be transformed according to individual aspirations.
The liniment created by Aurianne has a neutral pH which is suitable for the most fragile and sensitive skin, unlike formulas made in France which are not suitable for all skin types or treatments.
“It was essential for me to find the right ingredients, 100% natural and free of chemicals. I was looking for an ideal smell and texture, I wanted my product to be able to be stored without the components separating. Since I couldn't find a suitable lime water, I decided to make my own. Then, once convinced that I had finally found the right recipe, I had to test its shelf life. I put the famous cream in a mason jar and waited a year. Neither the smell nor the texture had changed. I had finally found the winning formula! »
Carefully chosen ingredients
The BB&Moi liniment is manufactured in accordance with ancestral procedures. It contains exclusively 100% natural products, and most are also organic. A little extra: each order is made as it is, thus ensuring absolute freshness.
Paraben-free, sulfite-free, gluten-free and entirely vegan, BB&Moi liniment does not contain any allergens. “Initially, I wanted to entrust the making of my liniment to laboratories in order to avoid an overload of work. As the different labs all wanted to add preservatives to my product, I refused and decided to do everything myself. There was no question for me that chemical compounds enter into the manufacture of my liniment. Integrates, you say?
The watchword: natural
Containing only carefully selected quality ingredients, Quebec artisanal liniment is made from organic olive oil and handmade lime water. In addition, it contains grapefruit seed extract, which ensures the preservation of the product and has antifungal properties compatible with washable diapers.
The benefits of liniment? Ecological, simple, fast, effective, all-in-one. What more? Used with a washable washcloth, it easily replaces disposable chemical wipes. A very good deal for the environment.
When liniment becomes an ally for the whole family
Comfort the skin
Used mainly to soothe redness and skin irritations in children, thanks in particular to lime water which has purifying properties to neutralize the acidity of urine, liniment is a great source of comfort for children. babies. One of the main properties of lime water is to soothe burns, which is why the product is so effective.
Liniment can also be used as a massage cream for babies with dry skin. In addition, it helps eliminate the famous milk crusts (hat) of infants, gently cleanses the face of children and relieves eczema or psoriasis.
Changing diapers
For the toilet of the seat, it is enough simply to apply the liniment using a soft cloth by insisting on the sensitive or irritated zones. Coming in the form of a semi-thick cream of yellowish color, it spreads easily. As it has both cleansing and purifying properties, there is no need to rinse it off. Its texture leaves a thin oily layer that protects against friction and humidity. In addition, it is particularly suitable for allergic skin. Presenting no danger to the mucous membranes, it also remains fully compatible with disposable or washable diapers.
Other utilities
In addition to being an essential ally for the baby, the liniment also becomes the accomplice of the whole family. Its many uses make it an essential product to have at home. “A lady even told me that she had brought a bottle of BB&Moi liniment with her during an Amazonian expedition. She used the liniment to clean herself in the middle of the forest when there was no other way to wash herself,” says Aurianne.
In addition, it can be used as an anti-stretch mark cream during pregnancy, and is very useful in the care of cracked or cracked nipples in breastfeeding women. It can even be used a few days after a C-section or episiotomy to soften healing scars.
Multiple benefits, right?
