Traditions revisited

Les traditions revisitées

It's easy to think that in 2016, our generation wants nothing to do with traditions. Romantic encounters are done by mobile application, events are organized on Facebook, being different is a social race and holidays are often experienced through our Instagram photos. Despite these generalities, I still noticed in my entourage (and on social networks) a certain tendency to want to come together and recreate what we knew when we were little. A no worse nostalgia seems to inhabit millennials.

Creation of traditions

The holidays do indeed seem to lose their magic as you get older and personally, I can't help but want to recapture that feeling of expectation, excitement and knowing that anything can happen! That's why me and my friends have set up some events that take place every year.

For example, since celebrations in parks no longer interest us, for Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day we will instead camp on a friend's property for a weekend. We enjoy the sun, we celebrate and we remember the good years (or not) with good food. Creating new rituals with those you love allows you to recharge your batteries, to create an anchor point and to rediscover a bit of that special feeling that lived in you when you were a child.

Are you going through the same thing? Why not, in turn, choose to create a new tradition? It's not that hard! We choose people we love and an activity that we feel comfortable repeating year after year. Here are some ideas of things to do to get you out of your family parties which are sometimes heavy or just plain flat! A change of scenery definitely changes the dynamic, so there's no need to throw your family into oblivion to revive the image of the celebrations with your uncles and aunts!

Camping

The smell of fire, the beers to cool off, the proximity of water when it's too humid. It's not expensive, there can be as many people as you want and it's easy to organize! The chalet version is also very cool for people who are a little more cozy (like me) and also allows you to create a new tradition, regardless of the time of year when camping is reserved for summer.

road trip

Choosing a new destination each year can turn a party into a truly special adventure! You don't even have to be far, sometimes discovering your own hometown takes longer and is more fun than you think! Charlevoix, Tadoussac, Île d'Orléans are known choices, but there are still plenty to discover.

The time of an evening

Cancel all his plans to create new ones? Why not! If we no longer have fun at Christmas or Easter, why not change the formula and organize an evening yourself to define the parameters? A themed evening, going out to your favorite bar, a late-night picnic or just a good old-fashioned barbecue with fireworks (evening permitting).

Discovery of new cultures

The food and atmosphere of a party are responsible for about 70% of the success of the evening. Why not get out of your way to discover celebrations around the world? Not only do we learn a lot of things, but it's also an opportunity to change an evening! At home, for example, we don't eat turkey at Christmas. We take advantage of this evening to choose a country and cook typical dishes. We eat all evening, we discover new things and, without realizing it, we have created a new tradition that is now dear to us.

Be original or not, but do not hesitate to look for those sweet moments that make life, in the end, so special!
