The bedtime ritual is not always easy for children. The dark, monsters, leaving mom and dad are among the common fears of these little cuties. But now Karine Foisy found an ingenious way in 2013 to improve the relationship that children have with the dodo alone.
This solution is called Veille sur toi, and it takes the form of animated night lights that accompany the little ones in their sweet night.
Benevolent Companions
Karine has always loved the arts and children (she is an elementary school teacher!), but it was the discovery of glass fusion that changed everything for her and led her to the path of entrepreneurship.
“I had been working with glass for six years. I had a period to explore it by making dishes, jewelry, etc., but it was while working on night lights that I had the desire to found Veille sur toi ,” explains the designer.
These night lights, they sometimes take the form of an animal with protruding eyes, a robot, an insect or a friendly monster. Karine relies on bright colors and fun and endearing characters. In short, everything that has the potential to charm little sleepers.
Moreover, each character has his name and his little story. This has the effect of reassuring the little ones who quickly become attached to their nocturnal companion (and sometimes confide secrets to them)!
“You can see my professional side through my company. I try to make my characters more endearing,” she laughs!
And it works since more than 4,000 nightlights have been adopted worldwide!
Watch over you, it's not just night lights anymore!
A few years after opening the Etsy store , the business has experienced many great things!
Karine was approached in 2015 by the production of the film Southpaw (starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams) to have one of her night lights appear on screen. Also, she won the grand prize of the "Etsy, the best of Quebec" contest in 2015 and became a member of the prestigious Conseil des métiers d'arts du Québec.
Veille sur toi has also expanded its product line by offering comforters and wall stickers.
Recently, Veille sur toi moved to boulevard Saint-Martin in Laval. This expansion allows it to offer a large boutique as well as a warehouse to support the growth of the company.
