“Art washes away the dust of everyday life from our souls.” - Pablo Picasso
Art plays a major role in our daily lives. Going from home to restaurant, and even on our way to work, it is an integral part of our environment.
Nathalie and Alain are two artists who wanted to do art differently. They offer us Rebellion Mobilier , a small company that stands out for its creations, but also for the charming team that runs it.
A dream come true
It is a common love for art that gave birth to Rebellion Mobilier. A birth that took place in calm and caution. But whose activity is experiencing more and more development and expansion over time.
Alain had worked for several years in the field of motorcycle customization. Possessing already very artistic aptitudes, he was however limited in his creative potential.
Nathalie, for her part, studied in the fields of biology and agronomy. She had rather followed the line that had been drawn for her when the time came for her to choose a career. She has long let herself be lulled by a dream of making a living from art.
They finally embarked on this new adventure of artistic entrepreneurship three years ago.
Innovate to stand out
Rebellion Mobilier takes its name from the singularity of the ideas that come to life there. Each creation is inspired by a mix of rugged and chic style.
But it's not only in style that artists like to arrange two antipodes. Indeed, Nathalie and Alain have set their sights on two very distinct materials: wood and steel.
Steel is distinguished from other metals by its solidity and the possibility of being worked in various compositions. With the use of certain varnishes or finishes, an unsuspected softness is given to it.
Wood, meanwhile, gives a touch of warmth to the creations. Each piece of wood being unique by its grain and its hue, it allows an unparalleled design of works.
Challenges that make progress
From the very beginning, the journey of entrepreneurs has not been flawless. Some pitfalls came to challenge the projects envisaged by the couple, but they were able to face them to bring out the positive.
The choice of steel also put the artists to the test. Due to its weight, its dull appearance and its tendency to rust over time, it presented a major challenge in its use. Certain handling and finishing methods had to be developed so that the steel could regain its former glory.
Some challenges have also surfaced over the years. Several projects were scribbled, without the time being multiplied. Hence the importance of striking a good balance between our passions and our obligations. And that, Nathalie and Alain try to put into practice on a daily basis.
Bring added value to the community
It is essential for entrepreneurs to get involved in the community, with causes that are important to them. That's why they participate in fundraising events every year.
To do this, they offer a work that will be sold at auction and whose funds raised will be donated to the cause in question.
Having notably contributed, in the past, to the benefit of the CHU de Québec Foundation and to the fight against prostate cancer, this year they will support the GRIS-Québec organization during an auction on March 31, 2016 .
