Who can boast of being the first Quebec woodworking superhero? David-Yan Auclair, alias the Rabot-D-Bois , has nothing of the brigand hidden in Sherwood Forest, except his big heart and his desire to redistribute the wealth… of wood!
After studying computer science, David-Yan traveled around Europe, where he discovered crafts. His dearest wish – to return to live in Gaspésie – and a deep desire to work with wood prompted him to return to school, this time in cabinetmaking. “My parents, my mentors, had a business in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts for 25 years. On my return, I was able to buy their building and settle there myself. It is therefore proudly that I perpetuate since 2006, after my grandparents and my parents, a tradition of entrepreneurship. Moreover, working in concert with the economic development of his region has always been one of his priorities.
Defining himself as an “artisentrepreneur” (contraction of the words artisan and entrepreneur), David-Yan draws his inspiration from his peers, including James Atkins ( Atkins & brothers smoked products) and Bastien Poulin ( 1642 Cola ).

LE D-BOUCHON™: THE PERFECT PAIR OF WINE AND ADVERTISING
We cannot ignore the international success of D-Bouchon™, a very Gaspésie invention by David-Yan Auclair! A chic and original promotional item, the D-Bouchon™ is a small wooden plate designed to present the cork when serving the wine. “It is, in my opinion, the perfect object for lovers of wine and good times. Keep a cork in memory of a good bottle, in memory of a good restaurant, a nice meeting, a discovery... It will always bring back good memories. The D-Bouchon™ will now be part of the ritual. »
NEXT PROJECTS
Difficult for David-Yan to reveal his future projects. " There's too much. My next project would be to be able to choose ONE project…” One thing is certain, however: our Gaspé philanthropist, father of two, dreams of contributing to the economic development of his region by sponsoring new entrepreneurs.
And a word on work-family balance, in closing? “In Gaspésie, things can only go well…”
Author's note: don't look for me, I left to pack my bags, direction Bas-du-Fleuve…!
