At the heart of the company: Déc'Art toi!

Au cœur de l’entreprise : Déc’Art toi!

It was while digging into the community of Quebec designers that I discovered Déc'Art toi jewelry! Simple and unique, the creations of the owner, Annick, charmed me at first glance. Between two woodcuts, the designer agreed to confide in me for a few minutes.

The entrepreneurial path opened up for Annick 6 and a half years ago: as a new mother, she wanted to give up her evening job in order to devote herself to her business. This initiative allowed him to have a schedule more suited to family life and to make a living from his creations. Gradually reducing the hours spent as an employee, she was able to make a smooth transition and thus reassure herself about the risks associated with the life of an entrepreneur.

The fusion of two passions

Earrings and the art of painting: this is what the designer wanted to combine with the creation of this company, which now has three years of activity. Having always hated waste, the painter first wanted to find a useful application for her scraps of canvas, which she mounts herself for her canvas paintings. So she turned it into eye-catching jewelry beads and backdrops.

One thing leading to another, his creation moved towards wooden jewellery, which seemed to have the right to a better reception from his customers. Varying essences and textures, Annick cuts, polishes and paints her creations one by one, which gives them a unique and typical character that we recognize well. Which is a huge achievement, considering the challenge of breaking into the already saturated jewelry market. The designer had to find a product that suited her values and was different from the current offer.

Uniqueness for everyone

The primary goal of Déc'Art you! is to offer a unique product: no part compares to the others. Her jewelry, made in small series, is constantly reinvented. Although they are all similar, pieces from the same model of earrings, for example, will be different in shape and color scheme. Annick even offers the possibility of making tailor-made requests!

Those who work in the Etsy community in Quebec know Annick: she is omnipresent there. Managing several self-help and sharing groups, the entrepreneur says she has a real need to help and exchange with her peers: "I love the principle of sharing behind Etsy, the desire of members of the community,” explains the designer. Generous with her time and knowledge, she thrives on original initiatives and handmade Quebec products.

Little train goes far

Annick says she is happy with the response she is receiving and the continued growth of her business. This year, the main challenge will be to improve its presence in the points of sale in its region and to position itself in order to participate in the Salon des métiers d'arts , which, according to it, reaches more of its target clientele. With their rich colors and particular shapes, Annick's jewels are indeed not those that go unnoticed.

The future looks good for the business as the owner thinks about expanding her product line. We will therefore soon be able to find among the earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets for women in her shop, decorations for the car rearview mirror and… a line of jewelry specially designed for men! "It's a big challenge, I want to do something that looks like me and that appeals to men," says Annick, while telling me that the new products will appear in her shop in the coming months.

It is to be watched!
