Who says holiday season, says overeating and drunken evenings. In order to add a little healthy "kick " at this time of year, I created a local kombucha-based cocktail. A Honey-Ginger Martini.
Kombucha?
It is fermented tea for 7 to 14 days which becomes a little fizzy. This increasingly popular vegan drink has many health benefits: it's loaded with probiotics, amino acids and enzymes. For the cocktail, I use the one from Rise Kombucha , brewed in Montreal. Super good in taste and available in several variations of flavors. It is usually drunk on its own and is even better on Monday morning, the day after or after eating too much!
It is also possible to use it for cooking or to concoct delicious cocktails. Moreover, on the Rise Kombucha website, they offer several recipes.
Plus, their bottles are so pretty! You can easily reuse them to put your maple syrup (which I did) or make DIY decorations .
A healthy martini to celebrate the arrival of 2016
The ingredients needed for a delicious Honey-Ginger Martini:
- A Shaker (in French, it's called a cocktail shaker…);
- 3 ounces of Ginger flavored Rise Kombucha . Cold;
- 2 ounces of Vodka (you can use Quebec vodka !);
- 1 lime wedge;
- 2 ml of honey (I used Miel des Grands Jardins . It comes from the beautiful region of Charlevoix!);
- 5ml grated ginger
A few quick steps:
In a shaker, add a few ice cubes, squeeze the lime and add all the ingredients (except the kombucha which we keep for the end!).
Close the container and stir vigorously for ten seconds.
Strain and pour into the Martini glass.
Add 3 ounces of Ginger Rise Kombucha.
Decorate with a sliced lime and a piece of ginger.
Enjoy! It is soft. Costs. Sparkling.
I wish you a wonderful 2016 filled with love, success and health!
Cheers!
