4 Elements candles: When quality makes itself felt

4 Elements

I had the pleasure of speaking with Brigitte Labrecque, the founder of Chandelles 4 Elements . She who has always loved candles, founded her company in 2017. She was wondering what goes into candles and her friend suggested that she make her own candles. After several trials and errors, she can affirm that she succeeded by offering candles made from soy wax without petroleum, paraffin, pesticides, herbicides and toxic products.

A difficult journey

When she decided to start her business, Brigitte had neither a background in entrepreneurship nor in candle making. She was very self-taught and informed herself with the help of several books. The entrepreneur called on a few people to act as a mentor, but no one answered the call. She found it hard to have to do it all on her own, but looking back it's something she's extremely proud of. Brigitte thought several times about giving up and dropping her project, but she rolled up her sleeves and persevered. She would also give advice to those who want to embark on an entrepreneurship to always continue and to listen to his little inner voice when there is a more difficult period.

Why 4 Elements?

The name refers to the four elements of the Earth which are found in a candle: fire for the flame, water for the liquid wax, earth for the solid wax as well as air for all that is around and which feeds the fire. Brigitte got the inspiration for the name of her company by reading the book of a spiritual master who said: “When you light a candle, you have the four elements that are present. »

Unique fragrances

4 Elements candles stand out with their bright colors and authentic fragrances. When you smell these candles, the smell is delicate and natural. You will never have the impression of smelling a chemical smell or giving you a headache. This is explained by the fact that Brigitte is very critical and demanding of herself when she manufactures a product. She's going to bring in a lot of samples to make sure she gets the smell she wants. To decide to market a new fragrance, Brigitte must first appreciate it herself.

It is very important for the entrepreneur to be authentic and not to copy the ideas of others. Her inspirations often come by “flash” and she recently came up with the idea for the Happy Birthday Candle . Instead of arriving at someone's party with a cake, we can bring this three-color candy candle that smells like cream. It is an original candle that can be offered to young and old alike.

Several options to perfume your home

4 Elements offers several products that last twice as long as other types of candles to liven up your home. This is because they burn at a lower heat. First, there are candles with cotton wicks, as well as crackling wooden wicks. It is also possible to use fondants with an electric tealight for a more ecological alternative. As for fragrances, 4 Elements offers scented oils for the pleasure of smell as well as essential oils that have therapeutic properties. The collection with essential oils is called quintessence because of a fifth element present, which is called ether. It is an element that symbolizes purity and is more subtle.

And future projects?

In addition to 4 Elements, Brigitte has just acquired a new company called L'Étincelle de MTL , which offers vegan and artisanal candles. With this company, she wants to offer something complementary to 4 Elements by being completely zero waste. The jars will be returnable and reusable and other products will eventually be added.

Brigitte does not lack creativity and perseverance and this shows through in her products. If you haven't smelled her candles yet, you have to! My favorite is the oatmeal and honey candle which smells a little like marzipan and makes you want to eat it, it smells so good.

Do not hesitate to consult its member profile for more information and to find out where to get these candles.
