Vegetable oils are increasingly present in our daily lives and more specifically, in our beauty routine because of their nourishing, moisturizing and protective properties.
Runak is the only Quebec company that offers beauty treatments based on precious vegetable oils from the Peruvian Amazon forest. Maria Sagastegui, founder of Runak , agreed to enlighten us on the subject. It was while trying to find a cure for her acne that the founder of Runak discovered the benefits of vegetable oils on the skin. In one of her researches, Maria discovered that there were precious oils from the Amazon that had been used in cosmetics for decades, so she decided to travel to Peru to visit one of the largest suppliers of vegetable oils in the Amazon to have samples and try them.
Vegetable oils or essential oils
Compared to essential oils, which are extracted from aromatic plants, vegetable oils come from oleaginous plants, that is to say, they contain lipids in their fruits, nuts or seeds. Vegetable oils are mainly composed of fatty acids and vitamins. They are therefore softer and easier to use than essential oils.
Their composition gives them nutritive, protective and regenerating properties for the skin. They are therefore used directly on the skin and hair. On the contrary, essential oils, which also have therapeutic properties, are very powerful and are therefore diluted in vegetable oil for use in cosmetics.
Some well-known vegetable oils
Trying to think of more common vegetable oils, I remembered sweet almond oil for skin or argan oil for hair. But at Runak, the offer is much larger , as Maria showed me, for example, there are vegetable oils beneficial for the harsh Quebec winter. As Maria told me, external aggressions such as icy wind, cold, dry air, but also overheated interiors, contribute to drying out the skin.
Maria Sagastegui listed many oils for me, unknown in Quebec, but widely used in cosmetics in France.

It comes from the fruit of a sacred palm tree called the “tree of life”. The pulp of the fruit is rich in oil. She is

Sacha Inchi oil
It is a plant native to the Andes mountains. Native Americans have been cultivating and using it for millennia for its many properties. A rare and exceptional oil is extracted from the selected virgin seeds of this plant using the traditional cold pressing technique.
- It is rich in Omega 3-6-9 and has nourishing, softening and soothing properties for the skin.

runak
Maria explains that Quebec has seen a boom with vegetable oils such as argan, jojoba, almond, which are popular for their benefits on the skin and hair. There are, however, in the world other vegetable oils virgin, pure and precious less known, but just as beneficial. So Maria took this opportunity and that's how Runak was born. She wanted to offer a range of skin and hair care products made from these precious and exotic oils from the Amazon.
Some of these oils are known for their personal use to treat skin problems, repair, protect, regenerate, beautify skin and hair. Moreover, Maria emphasized the fact that Runak's vegetable oils are of high quality, virgin, 100% natural, extracted in the traditional way and certified organic by Québec Vrai . These oils are developed according to a sustainable development program with Amazonian tribes, who respect nature.
The properties of vegetable oils give them such nourishing and protective properties for the skin and hair that they have become a product of choice for our beauty treatments. It is certain that these oils, given their natural character, will gain popularity in Quebec, especially with winter.
