How would you describe your business in one sentence?

Ocha Organica wants to inspire people to take care of themselves by wrapping them in love with treatments that are non-toxic for the body and for the environment.

Who are you? Why did you choose this field?

I studied communication and music and then had the chance to explore both worlds by working for a few years in the musical artistic environment, as well as in communication as a production coordinator and researcher.

Having made the decision to leave Montreal to live in the Laurentians, I had to transform my daily life and reorient myself. Gradually, I discovered the world of beauty treatments and herbalism. I became self-employed as a beautician while studying herbalism. A passion developed and continues to grow to this day. Along the way, entrepreneurship has become what most resembles me and which allows me to unite all the skills developed during this great adventure.

What was the trigger that pushed you to go into business?

During my journey as a beautician a few years ago, we aesthetic professionals were made aware of the toxicity of cosmetic products containing parabens. I then immediately stopped using these products. This concerned almost all body care products, both personal and cosmetic. I also quickly did some research to find a line of high-end, natural and organic products, only to find that what I was looking for did not exist. This was the triggering moment, because while continuing my research, I was inspired to create my own line. So I amalgamated everything I liked in the top of the range to offer it in a natural and organic version.

What is the most memorable moment in your career as an entrepreneur?

To this day, each time I receive compliments from my clients, they are always moments of grace for me, defining moments for the entrepreneur that I am.

When you were younger, was being an entrepreneur your dream or did you see yourself doing something else?

When I was younger, I dreamed above all of making people happy, at that time it was to create dance and singing shows for those around me. My dream came true, because even today, I make people happy with products that are intended to be treatments that improve well-being and that makes me very proud.

Why organic cosmetics?

By taking small, meaningful actions and being aware of what our body absorbs, we help improve our overall health and, by extension, the health of our environment.

Your top 3 favorite products and why?

These are the products that allow me to create a ritual and create a moment of relaxation, a moment when I take the time to take care of myself. For example, I light the hammam candle, take a hot bath with my eucalyptus bath salts and then coat my body with my sweet orange and vanilla shea whipped cream. Happiness…

What motivates you at work right now?

I am motivated by creation, by the desire to make a difference for my clients and for the nature that surrounds us. I am constantly creating to inspire people to take care of themselves in an ecological way.

What excites you about being an entrepreneur?

I feel that I belong, being an entrepreneur forces me to surpass myself and find all kinds of ways to reach people, to make a small difference in their lives and for our beautiful planet.

What's your next project?

I will release a new collection that is even more ecological, while offering quality organic and natural products for body care.

Looking back, would you have done anything differently?

No, I believe that my journey has been filled with great discoveries and learnings that have allowed me to flourish and grow with my business.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

I would advise keeping this childish flame that animates us by nourishing it, having fun doing what we love and sharing with others the unique and extraordinary person that we are.

What is your wildest dream with the company?

I would like my products to become a benchmark as ecological wellness care products for body and mind.

What has entrepreneurship taught you?

Entrepreneurship taught me to know myself, to develop myself as a human being and to open up to others. I hope that this beautiful adventure continues and joins even more other beautiful human beings.

Where does the name Ocha Organica come from?

Ocha Organica products are products based on Marula oil which is an oil filled with antioxidants and has several exceptional properties for the skin. It is an oil that comes from an African tree full of fruits that elephants feed on. The oil is extracted from the kernel of this fruit. So Ochaveut say 'pure' in an African dialect and Organica is for 'organic', either coming from living organisms or tissues.
